The cliché that “Ubud is the real Bali” is ridiculously overused…
Come to think of it, that’s probably why it’s a cliché!
But it’s thankfully a world away from the Aussie package tourist saturated beaches of Kuta and Legian. The chilled town is set up in the hills of central Bali, and provides a much more mellow vibe than the southern party areas.
It was my favourite part of the island – Bias Tegul beach aside – by far. Just watch out for the monkeys!
